CRP-Turbilatex is an in-vitro diagnostic reagent kit used to quantitatively measure levels of C‑reactive protein (CRP) in human serum or plasma.
-
CRP is a protein produced by the liver; its concentration rises in the blood during inflammation, infection, tissue injury, or certain diseases — so CRP levels are used clinically as a marker of inflammation or infection.
-
The method is latex-enhanced immunoturbidimetry: The kit contains latex particles coated with antibodies against human CRP. When patient serum/plasma (containing CRP) is mixed with the reagent, CRP binds to the antibodies, causing the latex particles to agglutinate (clump).
-
This agglutination increases turbidity (cloudiness), which can be measured as an absorbance change — the magnitude of this change correlates with the CRP concentration in the sample, which is determined by comparison to a calibrator of known CRP concentration.
