What is MediLytic Gamma GT 20 ml

• MediLytic Gamma GT 20 ml is a biochemistry reagent kit used in pathology labs.

• Specifically, it is a reagent for the measurement of Gamma‑glutamyl transferase (GGT / γ-GT) in human serum or plasma, by spectrophotometric method / automated chemistry analyzer. 

• GGT is an enzyme found mainly in the liver — serum GGT levels increase when there is damage to liver cells or bile ducts. 

• Thus the Gamma-GT reagent kit is used in liver function testing, to detect possible liver disease, bile duct obstruction, cholestasis, alcohol-related liver injury or other hepatobiliary issues.

• A GGT blood test by itself cannot pinpoint the exact cause — it is usually interpreted along with other liver enzymes and clinical context.

🧪 Technical / Usage Details (typical for GGT reagents)

• The assay uses a kinetic photometric method: in presence of GGT in sample, a substrate is converted, and change in absorbance at ~ 405 nm is measured. 

• Sample: serum or plasma (non-hemolysed). 

• Reaction temperature: 37 °C; typical reagent-mix ratio: 4 parts buffer (R1) + 1 part substrate (R2).

• Results expressed in units per liter (U/L).
