This is a reagent kit used for in-vitro determination of LDH activity in human serum or plasma.
-
The reagent works via the standard LDH enzymatic reaction: LDH catalyzes the conversion between pyruvate and lactate (or vice versa), with NADH/NAD⁺ as co-factors; the change in absorbance is proportional to the amount of LDH in the sample.
-
This “50 mL” refers to the volume of reagent supplied — enough for a number of tests depending on your analyzer / protocol.
-
LDH is an enzyme present in almost all body tissues — especially in heart, liver, muscles, kidneys, red blood cells.
-
When tissues are damaged — due to disease, injury, inflammation, hemolysis etc. — cells release LDH into the bloodstream. A raised LDH level in blood/serum can signal tissue damage.
-
Because LDH is widespread in the body, elevated levels are non-specific. A high LDH doesn’t pinpoint the exact organ or cause; it’s a general indicator.
-
Labs use kits like LDH 50 mL when they need to measure serum/plasma LDH activity — e.g. as part of a liver-panel, muscle-injury evaluation, hemolysis check, or general tissue-damage screening.
-
The result (LDH activity/concentration) must be interpreted along with other tests and clinical context. By itself, LDH is non-diagnostic — it just indicates possible tissue damage.
